I graduated in Pharmacy and for over twenty years I’ve been working at Opac as Head of Research and Development in the wet wipes sector. Opac is a company specialized in the production of all types of wet wipes: from cosmetic wipes to household cleaning products and biocides. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to follow the evolution of the industry, contributing to the development of innovative and unique solutions.
1. You will be talking about powdery wipes - can you give us some insight into what your will be sharing at the conference?
Powdery wipes technology was developed to combine the convenience of application characteristic of wipes with the versatile finish of powder products. It works by applying a powder to a specific part of the wipe, allowing for controlled release onto the skin while reducing powder volatility.
2. Why is this an important topic for the sector right now?
Because both powders and wet wipes are currently at the center of several controversies. Wipes have been targeted for the new and increasingly important environmental issues and powder products are in the crosshairs for safety concerns (inhalation risk).
3. What do you think will be the biggest challenge for the wipes and nonwovens industries in the coming 2-5 years?
4. What do you see as some of the most interesting innovations in the market now?
It is difficult to find great differences and innovations in this market, because wet wipes are now commodities and mass market products. However, in the last few years we have seen some transformations in their features and application: for example, the higher use of sustainable tissues and ingredients, formulas developed with less aggressive surfactants and new preservative systems, allergen-free fragrances a microplastic-free lotions.
Moreover, the nonwoven industry has experienced the birth of new and more high-end products, like face masks, eye patches, etc that offer an added value solution and are now increasingly more important for customers.
5. What are you most looking forward to at the event?
