Speaker insights interview - Sam Nebel

Hear from Sam Nebel, Co-founder and President at goodwipes

1. Can you give us a bit of insight into what you will be sharing at the conference (without giving too much away!)

    1. Absolutely! We’re going to dive DEEP into insights. How do consumers wipe their butts. What prevents them from purchase? Why don’t they know about it? Why has the WAVE of flushable wipes begun, and how does it maintain its acceleration against toilet paper.
    2. What are some of the FAQ’s we get from consumers? And beyond that, what are what I like to call “IFAQ’s?” Infrequently asked questions. At goodwipes, we’ve built a product encyclopaedia and an IFAQ list so we can quickly work with consumers on the nitty gritty details and questions that get asked 3x a year, but not daily.

2. What are you seeing as the biggest driver for consumers when it comes to choosing and purchasing wipes? How does it differ across categories?

    1. The drivers we are seeing still revolve heavily across  the basics:
  1. flushability. Will this clog my pipes? Or will it flush?
  2. How will this affect my skin?
  3. Can this ACTUALLY replace toilet paper? Spoiler alert: IT CAN!

3. What do you think will be the biggest challenge for the wipes and nonwovens industries in the coming 2-5 years?

    1. Staying the course. Again, nothing sexy or flashy. Consumers are craving to know the brass tacks.
    2. Will this clog my toilet? Will this flush? The WIPPES Act, ISO certifications, and pro-flushability legislation will be critical to success for wipes and nonwovens the next 2-5 years. There are periphery headwinds such as PFAS and plastics, but this is more administrative IMO b/c innovation is already where it needs to be.
    3. Of course, tariffs affect everybody in the supply chain, which becomes a global issue for all players involved.

4. What do you see as some of the most interesting innovations in the market now?

Fully dissipating and dissolvable wipes are EXTREMELY exciting to us!

5. What are you most looking forward to at the event?

Networking with folks in a more intimate environment – getting to trade knowledge across continents. I’ve been itching to come to GO WIPES for 3 years, and now Im honored to speak!
